Dr. Lena Klasén is Adjunct Professor in Digital Forensics at Linköping University, Sweden, and affiliated with Santa Anna IT Research Institute within research and innovation in AI, visual intelligence and interactive digital twins. She previously served as Director of Research at the Swedish Police Authority, National Operations Department, and as Director of the Swedish National Forensic Centre (NFC), leading the national forensic organization.

Dr. Klasén has extensive experience in forensic science, digital forensics and forensic operations, including strategic leadership of forensic capabilities, development of advanced forensic methods and expert involvement in major investigations and complex criminal cases. Her work spans the intersection of forensic science, AI, computer vision, sensor systems and operational law enforcement.

She received her PhD in Image Coding from Linköping University in 2002 and has conducted research for more than two decades in image and video analysis, computer vision, forensic AI and defence-related applications. Her current work focuses on multimodal AI, interactive digital twins, visual intelligence and advanced forensic analysis combining 3D reconstruction, sensor data, crime scene modelling and language-model interaction.

Dr. Klasén has held top-level executive and research leadership positions within the Swedish Police Authority, Saab AB, the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) and the Swedish Ministry of Justice. At the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), she held a senior role within the development of the JAS Gripen fighter aircraft program. Her industrial experience includes executive product portfolio management at Saab and participation in the establishment of innovative technology companies.

Dr. Klasén has served in several commissions of trust within research, innovation and forensic science, including board memberships, expert evaluations, forensic specialist assignments and invited keynote and plenary presentations at international conferences and research events.
